About the Role

We are actively recruiting a highly skilled, safety-driven Electrical Technician for a premier Oil & Gas production company based in Lagos.  Operating within a world-class upstream production environment (spanning onshore and deepwater assets), you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of High Voltage (HV), Low Voltage (LV), and emergency power distribution systems. The ideal candidate is deeply ingrained in a “Goal Zero” HSE culture, possesses expertise in Hazardous Area (Ex) equipment, and is committed to driving Asset Integrity and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM). You will play a pivotal role in ensuring power continuity, optimising energy efficiency, and supporting the facility\'s operational and sustainability targets.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance & Power Distribution (HV/LV):

  • Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical electrical infrastructure, including HV/LV switchgear, Power Transformers, Motor Control Centres (MCC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), UPS systems, and Emergency Diesel Generators.
  • Perform testing, calibration, and protection relay coordination on medium and low voltage distribution networks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial motors, control panels, lighting systems, and cathodic protection systems in both onshore and offshore environments.
  • Support **Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS)** by safely executing electrical tie-ins, modifications, and brownfield upgrades.

Hazardous Area & Asset Integrity:

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical equipment in Hazardous Areas (Zone 0, 1, and 2), ensuring strict compliance with IECEx / CompEx standards and ATEX directives.
  • Utilise advanced diagnostic tools for predictive maintenance, including Thermography, Vibration Analysis, and Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA).
  • Champion the facility’s Asset Integrity Management System (AIMS), ensuring all electrical assets meet regulatory and design specifications.

HSE, Work Management & Energy Optimisation:

  • Strictly adhere to the company’s Life-Saving Rules, Permit to Work (PTW), and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, ensuring zero energy incidents.
  • Actively participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard Identification (HAZID), and Toolbox Talks.
  • Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS - e.g., SAP PM / Maximo) to receive work orders, log labor/materials, and document technical histories.
  • Support the plant’s Energy Transition and Sustainability goals by identifying power optimization opportunities, reducing flaring through electrical reliability, and improving overall energy efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • OND/HND or Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc/B.Eng) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a recognized National Trade Certificate in Electrical Installation/Maintenance.
  •  A minimum of 5 years of hands-on electrical maintenance experience within the Upstream Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or heavy industrial sector.
  •  Proven expertise in switching, isolation, and maintenance of HV/LV networks (up to 33kV).
  • Deep understanding of Hazardous Area Classification and Ex-equipment maintenance.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams (SLD), schematics, and logic narratives.
  • Certifications (Mandatory/Highly Desirable) e.g., Valid CompEx (Ex01-Ex04 or Ex05-Ex06) or equivalent IECEx certification for hazardous areas, High Voltage (HV) Switching & Authorization certification, Valid HSE Level 1, 2, & 3 certifications, BOSIET/HUET with CA-EBS and valid Offshore Medical (for site rotations).
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure in a rotational offshore/swamp environment, and excellent cross-functional communication.

What We Offer

  • Salary: While salary is competitive based on industry experience, Benefits include: Free Transportation, Meals, Accommodation, Life Insurance, HMO and many more
  • A highly competitive, top-tier Oil & Gas remuneration package with offshore/rotation allowances
  • Opportunity to work on world-class, complex upstream assets (deepwater and onshore).
  • Comprehensive HSE training, continuous technical development, and OEM certification opportunities.
  • A collaborative, “Goal Zero” safety culture that values technical excellence, innovation, and energy transition.

Please note that only candidates who meet the strict 5+ years of O&G electrical maintenance, CompEx/Hazardous Area, and HSE compliance criteria will be contacted.
