We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Treasury

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • To provide strategic and operational leadership of ntel’s treasury activities, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet business obligations, disciplined stewardship of cash and financial resources, effective banking and funding arrangements, and proactive management of foreign-exchange, interest-rate and counterparty exposures.
  • The role will establish reliable cash-flow visibility and treasury controls to support network operations, infrastructure investment and sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities
Liquidity, Cash Flow & Working Capital:

  • Own the short-, medium- and long-term cash-flow forecasting process, including a rolling 13-week cash forecast and longer-range liquidity scenarios aligned to the operating plan.
  • Consolidate cash positions across bank accounts and entities, identify funding gaps early and recommend cash allocation and prioritisation decisions.
  • Partner with Commercial, Revenue Assurance, Procurement and Finance to improve collections visibility, payment discipline, working-capital cycles and cash conversion.
  • Monitor operational and capital expenditure cash requirements, including network, technology and infrastructure commitments, and advise on liquidity implications.

Banking, Funding & Capital Management:

  • Manage banking relationships, account structures, service levels, transaction charges and treasury-related banking negotiations.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate short-term funding, credit facilities, guarantees and other liquidity solutions, subject to delegated approvals.
  • Coordinate treasury inputs to funding proposals, lender due diligence, covenant monitoring and financing documentation with Finance and Legal.
  • Assess surplus-cash placement opportunities in line with approved investment policy, liquidity needs, counterparty limits and capital-preservation principles.

Foreign Exchange & Financial Risk:

  • Forecast and monitor foreign-currency obligations, particularly for technology, equipment, software, vendors and other import-dependent expenditure.
  • Develop practical strategies for managing FX availability, currency mismatch and exchange-rate exposure within applicable Nigerian regulations and approved risk limits.
  • Monitor interest-rate, bank counterparty, concentration and settlement risks; maintain exposure registers and propose mitigants.
  • Track relevant market and regulatory developments affecting treasury operations and provide timely advice to management.

Treasury Operations, Controls & Compliance

  • Oversee payment execution, cash transfers, bank mandates, authorised signatories and transaction documentation in accordance with delegated authority.
  • Maintain strong segregation of duties, maker-checker controls, payment verification, fraud prevention and appropriate approval trails.
  • Ensure timely bank reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items in partnership with Financial Control, without assuming ownership of the general ledger.
  • Maintain treasury policies, cash management procedures, bank account registers and approved counterparty and investment limits.
  • Ensure treasury operations comply with applicable CBN requirements, banking rules, internal policies and relevant contractual obligations.

Strategic Advisory, Reporting & Systems:

  • Provide weekly liquidity dashboards and monthly treasury reports covering cash balances, forecast variance, collections, obligations, funding needs and key exposures.
  • Prepare treasury analyses and recommendations for the CFO, Executive Management and, where required, Board or Board committees.
  • Support annual budgeting, business planning and major commercial or capital investment decisions with cash-flow and funding analysis.
  • Lead process improvements and appropriate automation of cash visibility, forecasting, payment controls and treasury reporting.
  • Build a capable, accountable treasury function with clear service standards and effective cross-functional partnerships.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
  • Relevant professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, ACT/treasury certification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Typically 8–12+ years of relevant finance/treasury experience for Head of Treasury, including meaningful leadership accountability; a Treasury Manager appointment may require a narrower scope and experience threshold.
  • Demonstrated experience in corporate liquidity management, cash-flow forecasting, banking relationships, financing and treasury controls.
  • Experience in telecommunications, infrastructure, capital-intensive or multi-entity businesses is strongly preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of the Nigerian banking environment, FX market practices and relevant regulatory requirements.

  • Liquidity and scenario modelling
  • Risk judgement
  • Negotiation and banking relationship management
  • Analytical rigour
  • Integrity and discretion
  • Controls orientation
  • Executive communication
  • Cross-functional influence
  • People leadership.
