American Christian Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Laboratory Assistant to support the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics teachers.
The ideal candidate should have a strong grasp of the sciences, gained through practical laboratory work. This role will involve supporting teachers with practical lessons, laboratory activities, and the day-to-day preparation and organization of science learning resources.
Key Responsibilities
Support Biology, Chemistry, and Physics teachers with practical lessons and laboratory activities.
Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and resources for classes and practical sessions.
Assist with setting up, conducting, and clearing practical activities.
Ensure laboratory equipment and materials are properly handled, stored, and maintained.
Support teachers in delivering engaging and well-organized practical science lessons.
Help maintain a safe, clean, and orderly laboratory environment.
Monitor laboratory supplies and report shortages, damaged equipment, or other concerns.
Carry out other duties related to laboratory and science department support as required.
Requirements
B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Microbiology.
1–3 years of relevant experience in teaching, laboratory work, or a related science role.
Strong knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with particular strength in Physics.
Practical laboratory experience and confidence working with science equipment and materials.
Experience teaching at A-Level is an added advantage.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with teachers and students.
Responsible, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.
Must currently reside in Ibadan.
