We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Nigeria

Summary

• Astria Learning is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to oversee the financial operations of our regional office(s).
• Reporting to the Regional Director, you will play a central role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and supporting strategic financial planning.
• This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to an organisation working at the intersection of education and technology in sub-Saharan Africa.

What you'll do

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations for the regional office(s)
• Process and oversee staff payroll accurately and on schedule
• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Monitor client payment status and manage accounts receivable
• Track office expenditure and produce detailed budget and expense reports
• Produce core financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and submit all statutory filings on time
• Conduct financial performance analysis and submit quarterly KPI reports to the Regional Director
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
• Coordinate with external auditors and uphold adherence to internal financial policies.

What we're looking for

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• At least 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Demonstrated experience managing payroll and financial reporting across multiple countries
• Strong working knowledge of financial regulations in Zambia and Malawi
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and organisational skills
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders.

Nice to have:

• Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
• Experience working within an education, non-profit, or technology-driven organisation
• Familiarity with multi-currency financial management
• Experience supporting or liaising with international audit processes.
