Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute legal strategies for the recovery of non-performing loans (NPLs) and delinquent accounts Draft and review demand letters, legal notices, agreements, and other legal documentation.
  • Liaise with law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and external solicitors on legal and recovery matters. Represent the company in legal proceedings or coordinate external counsel where required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, CBN regulations, AML/CFT requirements, and data protection standards.
  • Manage regulatory filings, internal compliance reviews, and KYC-related legal processes.
  • Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on business transactions, contracts, and regulatory matters.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and recommend actions to mitigate organizational risk.

Requirements

  • LL.B and B.L. (Called to the Nigerian Bar).
  • 3-7 years' experience in legal practice, preferably within a bank, fintech, or financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial law, debt recovery, litigation, and financial services regulation.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
  •  High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
