Underwriting Specialist

• We’re looking for an Underwriting Specialist to join our team. In this role, you’ll help assess loan applications, verify customer information, identify potential credit risks, and provide recommendations that support sound lending decisions.
• This is an opportunity to put your analytical and problem-solving skills to practical use in the financial services industry. Previous underwriting experience is an advantage, but we’re also open to candidates who have the right skills and are willing to learn.

What You’ll Do

• Review loan applications and supporting documents to verify the accuracy and authenticity of customer information.
• Identify inconsistencies, unusual patterns, and potential credit risks that may affect loan decisions.
• Contact applicants and use online verification methods to clarify information where necessary.
• Review applications promptly and ensure they are processed within the required timelines.
• Provide risk assessments and recommendations on whether applications should be approved or declined.
• Apply the company’s credit policies, risk guidelines, and procedures consistently.
• Ensure all assessments and recommendations comply with company policies and procedures.

What We’re Looking For

• A Bachelor's degree or HND in any relevant discipline.
• Completion of the mandatory NYSC programme.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot inconsistencies.
• Critical thinking and sound judgment.
• Basic computer proficiency and the ability to work with digital tools.
• The ability to work accurately and meet deadlines.
