How to ask for a referral (script)

Message the right person on LinkedIn (usually someone in your target function, not just anyone at the company). Keep it short:

Hi {name}, I saw you're at {company}. They have a {role} opening that fits my background well - I'd love to apply. Would you be comfortable putting me in touch with the hiring manager, or referring me through the internal portal? Happy to send my CV and a quick summary of relevant work.
