What makes this CV work

  • Projects section leads above work experience - the right call when work history is thin. Three projects with concrete outcomes beats "worked at McDonald's for a summer".
  • Every project has a stack list - mirrors what a senior CV does and feels mature to recruiters.
  • HNG and NYSC are formatted as full experience entries with achievement bullets, not just one-liners.
  • Measurable outcomes on projects (85/100, top-10 of 240) prove the project wasn't just submitted but succeeded.
  • Academic referees (project supervisor + current NYSC manager) - exactly right for a graduate who hasn't held permanent roles.

Tailoring this for your application

  • Lead with Education above Work Experience when you have fewer than 2 years of work. Hiding a thin work section at the top makes the CV look weaker, not stronger.
  • Include HNG, Andela ALC, I4G, Decagon or similar bootcamps if applicable - treat them as proper work experience with bullets.
  • List NYSC year explicitly - every Nigerian recruiter looks for it. "Not yet served" is better than silence.
  • Projects should have measurable outcomes ("85/100", "top-10 of 240 participants") - not just "built an app".
  • Academic referees (project supervisor, HoD, dean) are fine for your first job.
