Job Title: Assistant Cook (Chinese Cuisine)

Location: Jabi, Abuja (FCT) 
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

• The Assistant Cook will support the head cook in preparing and serving meals, with a basic knowledge of Chinese cuisine and cooking methods.
• The successful candidate will assist with daily kitchen operations, maintain food hygiene standards, and ensure meals are prepared efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and cooking Chinese meals under the supervision of the Head Cook.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of Chinese ingredients, seasonings, recipes, and cooking techniques.
• Wash, peel, cut, and prepare vegetables, meat, fish, and other ingredients.
• Must be able to prepare steamed buns, steamed buns, stesmed stuffled buns, dumplings, rice, noodles, soups, stir-fried dishes, and other Chinese meals.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, utensils, and cooking equipment.
• Store food ingredients properly and monitor their freshness to minimise waste.
• Assist with meal serving and ensure food is ready at the scheduled times.
• Follow instructions from the Head Cook and comply with company food safety procedures.

Job Requirements

• Basic knowledge or experience in preparing Chinese meals.
• Ability to identify common Chinese cooking ingredients, seasonings, and sauces.
• Basic cooking skills and willingness to learn new recipes and techniques.
• Knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food handling, and safe storage practices.
• Ability to work effectively with the Head Cook and other kitchen staff.
• Relevant cooking experience or culinary training is an advantage.
