Food and Nutrition Teacher

Stella Maris is looking for Food and Nutrition Teacher who will teach Food and Nutrition to Junior and Senior Secondary School students, helping them develop a strong understanding of healthy eating, nutritional principles, food preparation, meal planning, and kitchen hygiene. The successful candidate will deliver effective theoretical and practical lessons in line with the school curriculum and prepare students for WAEC, NECO, and other relevant examinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver Food and Nutrition lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum.
• Teach food groups, balanced diets, meal planning, food preparation, and other relevant nutritional topics.
• Conduct practical cooking demonstrations and supervise students during food preparation activities.
• Teach proper kitchen hygiene, food safety, and the safe handling of kitchen equipment.
• Assess students' theoretical knowledge and practical performance.
• Prepare lesson plans, mark assignments, and maintain accurate academic records.
• Ensure that practical learning activities are properly organised and conducted safely.

Requirement and Qualifications

• Relevant degree, or approved qualification in Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, Nutrition and Dietetics, or a related field.
• Recognised professional teaching qualification, where applicable.
• Valid TRCN registration/licence, as required by applicable regulations and school policy.
• Strong knowledge of nutrition, food preparation, meal planning, and kitchen safety.
• Practical teaching skills and the ability to organise cooking demonstrations.
• Good communication, classroom management, and assessment skills.
• Digital teaching competence, including Smartboard use, is an advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant teaching experience.
