Job Title: Petty Cashier

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Description

• The Petty Cashier is responsible for managing and safeguarding petty cash funds, processing approved expenses, and ensuring accurate and timely recording of all petty cash transactions across the company and its branch locations.
• The role ensures that all expenses are properly approved, supported with valid documentation, reconciled, and reported in line with company policies and financial control procedures.
• The position also supports cash replenishment, month-end closing, and the preparation of scrap customer payment confirmations, invoices, and manual waybills to promote operational efficiency, accountability, and effective financial management.

Responsibilties

• Petty Cash Management: Safeguard petty cash and record all approved transactions in the accounting system before close of business each day.
• Branch Petty Cash: Record petty cash expenses for all nine branch locations daily and coordinate replenishment within approved cash limits.
• Expense Processing: Disburse funds only for properly approved requests and within company policy and spending limits.
• Documentation: Verify that each transaction has valid receipts, supporting documents, and the required approval.
• Expense Posting: Post transactions accurately and promptly to the appropriate accounts and cost centres.
• Cash Replenishment: Prepare replenishment requests with supporting schedules when balances reach the approved threshold.
• Internal Control: Check for duplicate, unsupported, or unauthorized claims and report suspected misuse or irregularities.
• Cash Count and Reconciliation: Reconcile cash on hand, receipts, and ledger balances daily; support surprise cash counts and resolve variances promptly.
• Month-End Closing: Complete reconciliations and submit petty cash records and schedules by the Finance team's month-end deadline.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Scrap Customer Payment Confirmation: Confirm receipt of scrap-customer payments against bank records and approved sales documentation.
• Scrap Customer Invoicing: Prepare accurate invoices for scrap customers based on approved sales details.
• Scrap Customer Waybills: Prepare manual waybills for scrap customers and ensure the details agree with approved dispatch documentation.
• Ad hoc Support: Perform other finance-related duties assigned by management within the scope of the role.

Qualifications

• Interested candidates should possess an OND / HND / Bachelor`s Degree with 2 - 3 years experience.

Salary
N250,000 - N300,000 monthly.
