Job Title: Plumber

Job Purpose

• To ensure the effective installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of the hotel's plumbing systems, water supply, drainage, and sanitation facilities to maintain uninterrupted operations and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Plumbing Maintenance and Repairs:

• Install, maintain, and repair water supply pipes, drainage systems, taps, showers, toilets, sinks, and other plumbing fixtures.
• Identify and fix leaking pipes, blocked drains, faulty taps, and defective plumbing equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify potential faults and prevent breakdowns.
• Respond promptly to plumbing complaints from guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, laundry, and other hotel facilities.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on plumbing equipment and systems according to the maintenance schedule.

Water Supply and Drainage Management:

• Monitor the hotel's water supply and distribution systems to ensure consistent availability.
• Inspect water tanks, pumps, valves, and related plumbing equipment and report faults promptly.
• Ensure proper functioning of drainage and wastewater disposal systems.
• Assist in detecting water leakages and reducing unnecessary water wastage.
• Report major plumbing defects requiring specialised repairs or replacement.

Guest Service and Operational Support:

• Attend to maintenance requests from the Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Kitchen, Laundry, and other departments.
• Respond to plumbing emergencies promptly to minimise inconvenience to guests and disruption to hotel operations.
• Maintain professional conduct when working in guest rooms and other occupied areas.
• Respect guest privacy and hotel property while carrying out assigned duties.
• Inform the appropriate supervisor when a job cannot be completed within the expected timeframe.

Safety and Compliance:

• Observe all hotel safety procedures when handling plumbing tools, equipment, chemicals, and materials.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing assigned tasks.
• Ensure that work areas are kept clean, safe, and free from hazards after repairs.
• Follow applicable hygiene, sanitation, and environmental standards.
• Report unsafe conditions, accidents, and equipment defects to the Maintenance Manager or Chief Engineer.

Tools, Materials, and Documentation:

• Ensure proper use, care, and storage of plumbing tools and equipment.
• Maintain records of completed repairs, maintenance activities, and outstanding faults.
• Monitor the use of plumbing materials and report shortages to the supervisor.
• Avoid unnecessary wastage of materials and hotel resources.
• Ensure that replaced or defective components are reported and accounted for as required.

Teamwork and General Duties:

• Work collaboratively with other maintenance personnel to ensure efficient hotel operations.
• Carry out any other reasonable maintenance-related duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Chief Engineer.
• Attend departmental meetings, briefings, and training sessions as required.
• Comply with the hotel's policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct.
