We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Project Accountant

Location: Niger
Job Type: Full-time

Purpose 

• To manage the accounting, financial control and reporting of capital and investment projects at GSC Sunti, ensuring expenditure is accurately recorded, controlled and aligned with approved scope and budgets from project initiation through completion, work-in-progress and capitalization. 

The Job  

• Ensure accurate recording and follow-up of all transactions relating to capital and investment projects at GSC Sunti. 
• Control the end-to-end CAPEX cycle 
• Register and monitor all Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, advance and mobilisation payments, certifications, GRNs, invoices and contractor payments, ensuring correct accounting treatment. 
• Ensure the appropriate project, work centre and financial dimensions are established in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and that all project-related transactions are correctly coded. 
• Maintain a CAPEX register showing approved budget, actual expenditure, committed expenditure, forecast-to-complete, balance available and project status. 
• Monitor and analyse actual project expenditure against approved budgets and identify cost variances, under-budget and over-budget expenditure for escalation to the Project Leader and Head of Finance. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field. 
• Membership in ICAN, ACCA, ACA or CIMA. 

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years' cognate experience post-ICAN qualification preferably in manufacturing/FMCG.

The Person Must:

• Understanding of contract accounting, CAPEX accounting and procurement procedures. 
• Strong understanding of project financial controls and end-to-end CAPEX processes. 
• Structured approach to reporting actual expenditure, committed expenditure and forecast-to-complete. 
• Ability to explain financial figures and project status to non-finance managers and supervisors. 
• Ability to reconcile financial expenditure with physical project progress.
