Job Title: Associate - Corporate & Commercial Law

Location: Lagos 
Work Mode: Hybrid (4 days in-office, 1 day remote)

Job Summary

  • Our client, a reputable, female-led corporate and commercial law firm, seeks a skilled, commercially minded Associate to join its growing team.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate and commercial law, with demonstrable experience in transactional legal work, fintech, data protection, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
  • We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who can deliver sound legal advice, draft and review complex legal documents, and support clients across diverse corporate and regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements, and other transactional legal documents.
  • Conduct legal due diligence on corporate transactions, investments, and business opportunities.
  • Provide legal advisory services on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, fintech, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify legal risks and recommend practical, commercially viable solutions.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare articles, reports, and other thought-leadership content on relevant legal developments.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality legal services.
  • Keep abreast of developments in corporate law, technology, financial services, and regulatory frameworks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years post-call experience in corporate and commercial law.
  • Demonstrable experience in commercial transactions, contract drafting and review, and legal due diligence.
  • Relevant exposure to fintech, data protection, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory advisory.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A genuine interest in technology, innovation, and the evolving business landscape.
