Target role + your current skills

We aggregate skills asked for across every live posting for that role, then flag what's missing from your list.

Which skills do Nigerian employers actually ask for?

Nigerian job postings rarely publish a formal skills matrix - what employers want lives in the requirements section, half in prose and half in bullet lists. We parse every live posting for a chosen role, extract the skills, and count how often each is asked for. A skill mentioned in more than 50% of postings as required is core. Everything else is nice-to-have.

The gap analysis compares your comma-separated list to the extracted skills (case-insensitive). Missing core skills are worth prioritising - one ship-worthy project per gap, on your CV in 6 weeks, then re-run. Skills you already have get a checkmark so you can quickly filter your CV to what's relevant.

Use this before applying to a new role, before starting a certification, or when a manager asks what training budget you'd spend. The output is directly tied to what employers hiring right now actually want.

Frequently asked questions

How are core vs nice-to-have skills defined?

Core = mentioned in at least 50% of postings as required. Nice-to-have = mentioned but not required, or required in fewer postings. The count next to each skill shows total mentions.

What if my target role isn't listed?

The role picker uses our canonical taxonomy. If yours isn't there, pick the closest match (e.g. "Frontend Engineer" for a "React Developer" role). Sparse roles may lack enough tagged postings to build a reliable profile.

Can I run this against my CV automatically?

Yes - use the CV Analyzer. Upload a PDF/TXT and it will extract skills and run the same gap analysis against a chosen role.
